Show and Tell - Botanic Gardens (and FET Updates)

First thing's first - lining is up to 7.9 this morning, and we're starting PIO shots tonight! I never thought I'd be so excited to get stuck with a 1.5" needle. I'm supposed to call tomorrow to schedule my FET. I was feeling very dejected Friday and was sure that my lining wouldn't improve enough in 2 days, and that we'd get postponed even further, but I guess we're ok.

____

And now, show and tell! A friend of mine was in town from New York this weekend, so yesterday we went to the Chicago Botanic Gardens (in the suburbs actually). I admit to having an obsession with taking pictures of flowers, but yesterday I think I got some great shots:

This is just a random flower - I don't know what it is, but it was so pretty!

This is a butterfly we saw just inside the main entrance. I have seen a ton of butterflies lately on our walks too. I'm actually starting to wonder if it is just "Butterfly Season" and they're around in large numbers in general, and that's why I'm seeing them, but I admit I don't remember seeing this many ever before, and I like thinking it's because they're symbols of our Doodles visiting us, so I'm sticking with that story even if I learn otherwise. I saw another monarch much larger than this one later in the day, and a really pretty blue and black one but I didn't get pictures of either of those.

This is a tree in the Japanese Garden (my favorite part of the gardens). I think this is my favorite photo I took because it is so peaceful. I think I may use this picture to help me relax when I get stressed!

And finally, I think this is the best photo I've ever taken (DH repeated that in a Napoleon Dynamite voice when I first said it). It's a stargazer lily but for some reason all the petals curled all the way around and made it almost round. All the lilies in this area were doing the same thing.

As a bonus pic - here is DH drinking the world's largest pop! We were so thirsty on the way home and went through KFC to get a drink, and DH ordered the "mega" - which was quite literally a bucket o' soda! It was hysterical, so I had to get a picture.

Yay for the lining and the moving forward! HOpe those PIO shots don't hurt...never done them myself.

And haaaa, you said "pop". You must be from the midwest? Those mega drinks are ridiculous, I agree.

Beautiful pictures. I think that the flower in the first one is a Dahlia.

I'm happy for you about the lining. I'll be tied up with work all week and probably won't make it back on, so good luck with the FET!!!

PS Thanks for Scrapblog. I've got a million other things to do right now, but it really made me happy to use it, so I invested the time. I had no idea it even existed.

Congrats on the lining! And that is a pretty awesome picture of the flower, what with the crisp flower and the slightly and artfully blurred bricks. Nice job. ;-) I'll be sending positive vibes your way on Friday. While it may seem like time is passing slowly for you, these weeks before your FET have blown by in blogtime!

Awesome pictures. Is that law gig doesn't work out, you should become a professional photographer!

So glad to hear your lining has caught up. If we both end up transferring on Friday, we'll have to share a little FET dance or something. :)

Yay for moving forward. I'm glad that your lining is cooperating. I am convinced that the baby I miscarried sends me hummingbirds. When you posted about the butterflies, it made me think of him. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that way :) I hope this FET works for you :)

Fantastic news about your lining....and best of luck with the FET.
I will be thinking about you, and waiting to read some good news. =)

And yes, the flower is a dahlia. I have quite a few in my garden. I too love taking pictures of flowers and nature. My camera is kinda sucky though so they never come out quite as beautiful as yours did.

Yay on the lining! The pictures are fabulous! I love the flower. It reminds me of the flowers my grandpa used to grow in his garden. The new layout of your blog looks beautiful too. I wish I had your creativity! :)

Wonderful news regarding your FET - you have and will continue to be in my thoughts.

The photographs are beautiful! And ever since you mentioned butterflies and their symbolism several months ago I have noticed a far greater number of butterflies than I have ever seen before. I asked hubby if it was just me actually noticed them for that reason, and he said that he really thought there were far more this year than in years past. Either way, I like seeing them.

I love the picture of the Japanese tree... you're right, it's so peaceful!

And I saw that bucket soda this weekend too, LOL. It has a freaking handle, for crying out loud! A family of 4 ordered 1 to share and I admit I was a little grossed out.

LOVE the pics---the Japanese tree is amazing! I had stargazer lilies in my wedding boquet, the picture of the inside out one was really neat. I have been in Florida for 10 years now and still get funny looks when I say "pop," because they say "soda" here. Being raised in Ohio, your pop photo made me smile.

And finally---CONGRATS on your lining! :)

So glad to hear your body is behaving for you and I hope it continues to behave!

I have star gazer lillies and commander in chief lillies (deep dark red) under the maple tree in the back yard and I love them. We live just a few hours north of Chicago but have never been to the gardens. After seeing your photos it is going on the list.

By the way, love the new look!

Butterflies symbolize freedom and new beginnings. God's way of telling you that your babies are with Him and that you will be blessed.

That's a dahlia - don't know which kind.

Good luck with the needle! Fingers crossed and prayers in the works!
